Obituary for David Vandre
David Bruce Vandre, age 73, of Almond, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2017 at home in the presence of loved ones.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:45AM on Friday January 27, 2017 at Woodlands Church 190 Hoover Ave. Plover, WI 54467. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00AM with the Brian Berg of Woodlands Church, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Plover Cemetery. Shuda Funeral Services are assisting the family.
David was born in Enid, Oklahoma to George John Vandre and Essie Faye (Welch) Vandre on 1/14/1944. He graduated from Wausau High School in 1963. He married Mary Ann Burgener on 10/21/1967 in Merrill, Wisconsin and went on to raise 2 children. He worked as a salesman and manager for AmeriGas for 20 years before retiring at the age of 64. He met his fiancée Bonnie Reabe Rosenthal in June of 1992. Bonnie and Dave spent the last 24 years farming, traveling, and loving each other. Dave was a veteran and served in the Army’s 82nd Airborne. He was involved in American Legion Post 339 and served as the Portage County Commander. In his younger years David was part of the Junction City volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club.
David’s love for hunting and fishing spanned his lifetime. He passed this love on to his children and his grandchildren who he spent countless hours with sharing his knowledge. He was also known to his family as the go to fix it guy. He might have some extra parts, but he always got the job done.
David is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ken Wieloch.
David is survived by: his fiancé Bonnie Reabe Rosenthal: his son Duane (Susan) and daughter Crystal (Kevin Gruber): grandchildren Tiffany of Minneapolis, MN, Alexandra, Tyler of Boston, MA, Brooke, Mackenzie, Justin of Hartford, WI, Holly, Kelly Jo, and Elijah: brothers Wayne (Karen) of Merrill, WI and Stuart (Sheryl) of Merritt Island, FL: sisters Nita (David Hass) of Homosassa, FL, Lavonna (Steve Young) of Merrill, WI and Faye of Merrill WI: great-Grandchildren Avalee and Zelda (due in March).
Pallbearers will be Tyler Vandre (grandson), Justin Vandre (grandson), Steve Young (brother-in-law), Jim Reed (friend), Allan Erdman (friend), and JR Reabe (friend).
