Dorothy J. Clendenning
Dorothy J. Clendenning, age 85 formerly of 2900 Plover Road in Plover passed away December 24, 2009 at the Portage County Health Care Center where she had resided the past three months.
A mass of christian burial for Dorothy will be at 10:30 AM Monday December 28, 2009 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. Sagayaraj Augustine will officiate. Friends and family will gather at the church to share memories from 9:00 AM Monday until the time of services. The St. Bronislava Rosary Society of which Dorothy was a lifetime member will pray the general rosary in church at 9:30 AM. Monday. Burial will be in the spring at the Meehan Cemetery.
Dorothy was born July 22, 1924 in Stevens Point the daughter of Cleland and Nellie (Porter) Finnessy. She attended local schools in Plover and Stevens Point. Dorothy married Lyle C. Clendenning June 28, 1944 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. The couple resided in Whiting, later moving to Stockton until settling in Plover. The couple raised three children and Dorothy also worked at Weber Tackle for 10 years. She enjoyed family gatherings, flower gardening, bingo, and traveling. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Carol (Clyde) Brillowski, Plover; Tom (Priscilla) Clendenning, Plover; Christopher (Rachel) Clendenning, Plover. Six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. One sister Isla Weisbrot, Stevens Point; one brother Larry Finnessy, Plover. Two sister-in-laws: Cathryn Finnessy, Oregon; Lorraine Braat, MI. One brother-in-law Orville Clendenning, Stevens Point. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyle in 2004; three brothers Albert, Frank, John; two sisters: Susan and Alice.
Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff at the Portage County Health Care Center east and north wings along with ICU and Dr. Fred at St. Michaels Hospital for the wonderful care given to their mother.
