Gerald Meyer
Gerald “Gerry” Meyer, age 55 of 4101 Jordan Lane in Stevens Point passed away February 1, 2010 at his home under the care of Ministry Home Hospice and caregiver Inetta Posey.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerry will be at 10:30 AM Monday February 8, 2010 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. John Paul Lobo will officiate. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 1:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday at the Plover- Shuda Family Funeral Home. Visitation will also be at the church from 9:30 AM Monday until the time of services. The Knights of Columbus Council # 1170 of which Gerry was a 4th degree knight will pray a rosary for Gerry at 3:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name for the Portage County Humane Society and Ministry Home Hospice Care.
Gerry was born November 25, 1954 in Chicago the son of Edwin and Marge (Wroblewski) Meyer. After schooling Gerry worked in Chicago and married Linda Palesh on June 17, 1978. The couple moved to Stevens Point in April of 1998. Gerry worked at Johnson Distributing and most recently at the Plover Funeral Home as a funeral assistant. Along with being a 4th degree knight, Gerry was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Divco Club of America, and a former member of the Stevens Point Evening Lions. Gerry was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed “oldies” music, sky diving, photography and hot air ballooning. He loved animals of all kind and Linda and he are the owners of five cats: Peaches, Gibbons, Snickers, Grace, Mercy and one dog Cody.
Gerry is survived by his wife Linda; one sister Judy Dinghofer, St Charles, IL and two nieces: Leah and Janet. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joyce Kizewski.
